Ultherapy Q & A

What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is an advanced nonsurgical aesthetic tool that uses ultrasound technology to improve many common skin concerns that come with getting older. The aesthetic tool is FDA-cleared to lift the skin on your:

  • Neck
  • Chin
  • Brow

Ultherapy can also reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles along the décolletage, which is a woman’s low neckline.

If you’re considering a face-lift, you may want to contact the team at The Hammett Clinic first. Ultherapy may serve as an alternative to surgery or help extend the life of your procedure.

How does Ultherapy work?

Ultherapy uses sound-wave technology to lift your skin and improve appearance. The sound waves produced by Ultherapy have the ability to penetrate the deep layers of your skin and stimulate the production of collagen, which is the protein that provides your skin with its youthful support and strength.

What can I expect during treatment with Ultherapy?

The team at The Hammett Clinic conduct your Ultherapy at the office. Treatment time varies, depending on your aesthetic goals, and may take 30-90 minutes. You may feel a type of “energy” or tingling sensation as the sound waves penetrate your skin, but most people don’t find the effects unpleasant and they don’t last very long.

You may experience some redness at the site of your treatment, but these side effects disappear within a few hours. There’s no downtime following your Ultherapy and you can return to your normal day after treatment.

Most people only need one session with Ultherapy to get the desired results. However, if you suffer from severe skin laxity, the team at The Hammett Clinic may recommend more than one treatment session.

When will I see the results of my Ultherapy?

You may start to notice improvements in your skin within three months of treatment, with optimal results within six months. With good skin care practices, including the use of daily sunblock and covering your skin with clothing, wide-brimmed hats, or sunglasses when you plan on being in the sun for any extended period of time, your skin should remain strong and resilient for a year or more.
